ABOUT

DJ Barnacles:

DJ Barnacles though born in Richmond, Virginia grew up in various cities in VA and Ohio. He started DJing in 99 and has been addicted ever since. He has a bitter, troll like stature and is often found grumbling about things he doesn't like. Interested in all aspects of DJ'ing, he enjoys scratching the most. He is a shoe whore, loves long walks, and eating bones in the graveyard after dark. Barnacles has been doing the "In the Groove" radio show with Mordecai for over five years. Also he has been a resident DJ for "The Wax Museum" and "Richmatic" for almost two years. Still a newcomer to the game, but kiddies, don't try and step to him unless you come equipped with platinum shoes and a spliff.

DJ Mordecai:

After moving from Columbus, Ohio, at a young age, DJ Mordecai set up shop in the suburbs of Richmond, Virginia. He slowly developed a taste for hip-hop (and music in general) and started DJ’ing using one turntable, a CD player and a cassette boombox in his junior year of high school. (He had begun experimenting with making beats one year prior.) Since rocking parties in 1999–at eighteen–he has spun at numerous clubs and a wide variety of venues throughout Richmond and along the East Coast. Recent highlights include 7 Deadly Cities b-boy battle in Virginia Beach, a filmed-for-TV performance at The Canal Club in Richmond, and a guest DJ appearance at The Wonderland Ballroom in Washington, DC. He thoroughly enjoys spinning on the radio --he co-hosts and shares turntable duties with Barnacles on the "In The Groove" radio show at University of Richmond's station (formerly at Virginia Commonwealth University's station) as well as "Richmond Soul Stew" with friend Chew La Rock. He also loves digging for lost gems in record bins everywhere! Mordecai made his solo mix CD debut in 2006 with "Elementary '80s". DJ Mordecai plans to release more break-oriented and hip-hop mixes in 2008. He is currently finishing a new promo mix CD to be released by the end of the year.
